The government of Cameroon says prices of petroleum products will remain unchanged despite the fire that ravaged on the production units of the National Oil Refining (SONARA) Company, in Limbe Friday May 31, 2019.
The decision filtered out from a joint press conference between the ministries concerned as well as heads of corporations in Yaounde on June 2.

Some Cameroonians had raised fears of a possible increase in prices of fuel product such as cooking gas, Petrol and Kerosene, but the Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Antangana try to assuage such fears insisting that prices remain unchanged.
Although the General Manager of the South West based company, Jean-Paul Simo Njonou was quick to attribute the cause of the fire to a technical fault, the minister of communication Rene Emanuel Sadi averred that investigations have been opened to further determine the actual cause of the incident.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute chaired a consultative meeting Sunday June 2, which brought together different stake holders including key ministerial departments, general managers of petroleum companies and major distributors of petroleum products.
The meeting was aimed at examining the cause, damage, consequences on the indegenous population and measures taken for the resumption of work at the production units.
Members also brainstormed on measures taken to forsee continous supply at the site to avoid scarcity.
Also, the Head of Government expressed needs to highten security at the production unit coupled with the socio-political upheavals in the City.
Despite the series of meetings held to restore serenity at the National Oil Refining (SONARA), sources say a more dangerous inferno engulfed the company three days after that of Friday was reportedly quelled by elements of the Fire Fighting Brigade.
